Sibanda names squad for COSAFA Championship

Sithethelelwe Sibanda, the Mighty Warriors coach, has named the final 20 players to represent Zimbabwe during the COSAFA Women’s Championship to be held this month In Bulawayo.

Sibanda dropped five players from the remaining twenty-five, having let go of the other five last week.

Veteran goalkeeper, Chido Dzingirai leads the goalkeeping department while experienced defenders Nobuhle Majika, Lynett Mutokuto and Rufaro Machingura were named in the Mighty Warriors defence.

Marjory Nyaumwe, the most capped Mighty Warrior [21 caps] in the team, will be part of a midfield that also includes skipper, Talent Mandaza, Rejoice Kapfumvuti and Eunice Chibanda, a quartet that was part of the Rio Olympics team.

Upfront, Rutendo Makore will compete for a starting berth with Berita Kabwe, who has played once before for the senior team. Ethel Chinyerere, Priviledge Mupeti and Susan Nyama will be looking for debut appearances for the senior team when the tournament begins on 13 September.
