Zimbabwe will play Egypt in the opening match of the 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations on 21 June at 10pm.
Sunday Chidzambga and the Warriors will be hoping to fare better this time around, having lost against the same opponent in 2004.
Sunday Chidzambga was in charge of a Warriors team captained by Peter Ndlovu who also scored the opening goal of the match which eventually ended in a 1-2 defeat for Zimbabwe.
Presumably the third best team in the group, according to the FIFA world rankings, Uganda will be up next on the 26th of June at 7pm. Like us, Uganda were eliminated at the group stage of the 2017 edition.
We conclude group action at 9pm on 30 June with a tie against DR Congo whom we faced twice in the qualifiers in 2018.
Having beaten and drawn with DR Congo in successive matches in October 2018, the Warriors will be hoping to emulate those valiant efforts to get a positive result at the grand stage.
Two top teams at the end of the group phase will qualify for the knock out stage, together with four third best teams.
The Warriors will be hoping to surpass efforts of previous sides which were eliminated at the group stage, the latest being in 2017 when some of the current crop of Warriors were in action.
Vs Egypt – 21/6 – 10pm
Vs Uganda – 26/6 – 7pm
Vs DR Congo 30/6 – 9pm
