A nil all draw away in Maseru on 20 October was suffice to book Zimbabwe a place at the 2020 African Nations Championship finals in Cameroon. The Warriors won the two-legged qualifier 3-1 on aggregate having won the first leg in Harare by that scoreline on 22 September at the National Sports Stadium.
Prince Dube scored twice and Wellington Taderera scored the the third before Lesotho’s consolation from the penalty spot at the death of the match.
In the build up to the second leg, coach Joseph Antipas underscored the need for the team to avoid complacency and the goalless draw proved that he got his message through.
This will be Zimbabwe’s fifth appearance at the CHAN finals and the Warriors’ best performance to date was a fourth place finish in 2014 in South Africa.
The finals of the biennial tournament reserved for locally based players will take place between January and February 2020.
