It’s just seven days before the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations Women’s Championship gets underway in Bulawayo, and, one of Zimbabwe’s rivals has announced her final squad.
Zambia coach, Albert Kachinga named the 20 players to represent Zambia at the women football tournament between 13 and 24 September.
Zambia, together with Malawi and Madagascar were drawn in Group A with hosts and holders, Zimbabwe.
Kachinga acknowledged that Zimbabwe’s Mighty Warriors will pose when the teams clash on 15 September, but he is also confident that the Champions can be overcome.
“We have played Zimbabwe on several occasions.
“We have lost and we have also won some games, [so] the chances are 50/50, but with adequate preparations and with a good mindset, we can beat them,” Kachinga told cosafa.com
The Zambia coach also spoke about the whole group, assessing his team’s chances of going through to the semi-finals as fair.
“These days there are no easy games; it is a fair draw.
There is no team which can [afford to] underrate the other; we have to work hard so we can pull through,” he added.
COSAFA Women’s Championship games begin on the 13th of September and the final will be played on 24 September.
Twelve participating teams are in three groups of four teams each, where the winner of each group and the best placed runner-up will make it to the last four.
Zimbabwe’s Mighty Warriors have been training in Harare since 20 August. Coach Sithethelelwe Sibanda will name the final 20-member squad before the team departs for Bulawayo this week.
