THE ZIFA President Dr Phillip Chiyangwa, the executive committee, the General Assembly and the Secretariat have learnt with shock, of the untimely death of football legend and former Dynamos and Moroka Swallows defender, Shadreck Ngwenya.
Ngwenya’s death is a painful loss that leaves the football family with a sad start to the New Year as the game has been robbed of one of its finest minds.
It is a loss to both Zimbabwe and South Africa, Dynamos and all the football clubs that he played for and coached.
We mourn with Ngwenya’s family that has lost a father and as we mourn we also celebrate the fact that Shadreck was a fine player during his time and when hung up his boots, he continued to play a key role in the development of the game by identifying and nurturing young talent.
He was indeed a fine gentleman, footballer and coach and as ZIFA we believe that the clubs he coached and the talent he interacted with and developed will continue to be of immense benefit to the beautiful game.
May His Dearest Soul Rest in Eternal Peace
